For some people, it’s the type of job that just feels like an endless chore. For other people, it’s their absolute dream job. Working in tech support isn’t for everyone, but if you’re the kind of person that is fascinated by wires and binary, there really isn’t anything better. There are plenty of perks to working in tech support, too. Perhaps the most important perk is that you are able to see all sorts of crazy things. Here are some photos taken by tech support workers of the strangest things they’ve seen on the job.
The importance of cable management
Although it’s been known as important by particularly tech savvy people for a while now, it seems like cable management has just recently come into the mainstream. Many people are looking to actually make sense of all of their wires at home now that technology has become so prevalent, but no one does it better than those people that are in the business.

Just look at the difference that was made by the cable management here. This setup went from horrifying messy to beautifully organized. Ahh, this is what people in the tech industry live for.
They have identified the problem
Sometimes the problems that are faced by those in the tech support industry take hours to solve. They work incredibly hard to figure out how to fix obscure issues that come along once in a lifetime. Other times their job is just a little bit easier.

This was one of those days. This worker was tasked with fixing a printer that wouldn’t print, and it didn’t take them long to discover the issue. The paper had been put into the tray while still in its packaging. No wonder the printer was refusing to print!
You need to wash that thing immediately!
You would think that people that use technology day in and day out would try to take care of their equipment as much as possible. But there is more to computer care than just running an antivirus program. You need to actually, you know, clean all the stuff that you use.

Your computer and your keyboard both pick up a ton of dust over the course of a work day, and don’t even get us started on your mouse. That thing picks up grease like nobody’s business. Don’t believe us? Just take a look at this photo. So gross.
Keep your candles away from your computer
We have a sage piece of advice for all the computer users out there: keep your candles away from your computer. In case you needed a horror story to convince you of the importance of doing this, well, look no further.

This person left a candle melting on top of their computer, and the wax slowly made its way into the body of the machine. They then started facing some computing problems, so they called up someone in the hopes that they would get some help. The problem was quickly discovered.
The troll strikes once again
Just like fashion trends, memes go in and out of style as the years go by. The most popular memes of yesteryear are now only used by the most ironic Internet archivists. Keyboard cat, Charlie the Unicorn, and plenty of others have been left to wither. But if there’s one meme that really defines the Internet’s past, it’s the trollface.

This beguiling portrait used to be super popular, and it was definitely a remnant of the past when discovered in the CD drive of a computer at a high school. A classic prank if we have ever seen one.
There is no salvaging this
There are a lot of amazing things that tech support workers can do. They really do know their business quite well, and you would be quite surprised at the things that they can fix without breaking a sweat. Like all other people, they do have their limits, however.

While they might be able to untangle that bundle of cables in your office, you would be hard pressed to find a tech worker that could fix this monstrosity. We don’t even want to think about how this could be fixed. We would rather just watch it burn.
